Our first deep-dive into the UK’s scene of equestrian venues sees our attention drawn to Pontispool. This established, Somerset venue has been hosting exciting events for 25 years and welcomes everything from Pony Club showjumping competitions to hunter trials and their own one day event.
Set in over 400 acres, Pontispool offers a vast array of cross country jumps for training - from challenging water combinations to simple logs for the more novice riders amongst us. Alongside the excellent cross country facilities are an all-weather gallop track and arena set up with a full set of professional show-jumps in the summer, and cross country jumps in the winter.
With excellent stabling facilities and a modern accommodation block, Pontispool is also home to a variety of pony club and riding club camps where pony dreams are made year on year.

Pontispool really does offer something for everyone - from the pony clubber looking to do their first cross pole class to serious event riders (Pontispool acts as a training ground for Olympic level competitors).
Their slick website enables online booking and the venue is easily accessible from the M5 (it's in between Taunton and Wellington). Although accessed on country lanes, there are plenty of passing places and is easy to reach . . . and what's even better, there's oodles of parking so no worries if reversing techniques are a little rusty.
